 -ABOUT ME-

My name is Annetta Yuwono, and I am a senior at the University of Pittsburgh (FHC) pursuing a dual degree in Neuroscience (B.Phil.) and Psychology (B.S.), with a minor in Chemistry. â€‹

Over the past three years, I have had the incredible opportunity to engage in neurobiological research at the Thathiah Lab to lead my independent project on the role of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) on tau pathogenesis in Alzheimer's Disease, which will culminate in a written thesis and defense for fulfillment of my B.Phil. This past summer, I continued to delve into APP pathobiology research by completing an internship at the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Brain and Disease with the Chávez-Gutiérrez group, where I gained valuable research experience in an international setting. These experiences have allowed me to try my hand in culturing and experimenting with several in vitro cell lines such as patient-derived directly converted neurons and iPSC-derived neurons.  â€‹

Outside of my academic and research endeavors, I am an avid baker and artist. As such, I want to share my diverse set of experimental and creative projects to highlight the passions that have shaped my approaches to research and teaching. I continue to draw on my curiosity and creativity to come up with unique solutions to problems that may arise.

I am not just one thing, but the sum of all my parts: a researcher, baker, artist, environmental restoration enthusiast, hiker, runner, swimmer, and many more characteristic interests that have yet to be discovered.
